About SPIC MACAY

SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth) is a nationwide voluntary cultural movement founded in 1977 at IIT Delhi by Dr. Kiran Seth (Professor Emeritus, IIIT Delhi). The organization is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and disseminating India's rich cultural heritage among children and young people by providing direct exposure to classical and traditional art forms.

SPIC MACAY fosters meaningful engagement with Indian classical vocal and instrumental music, classical and folk dance traditions, crafts such as painting, terracotta, and wood carving, theatre, and classic cinema. Operating on the principles of the guru–shishya parampara, experiential learning, and value-based education, the movement seeks to nurture cultural sensitivity, discipline, and aesthetic appreciation beyond commercial performance spaces. Annually, SPIC MACAY organizes more than 4,000 programs across over 500 institutions in nearly 300 cities in India and around 50 cities internationally, positively impacting more than two million students each year.
